[Nathaniel isn't a particularly tall fifteen year old, and that's with the growth spurt he'd hit a little before his death. He's thin and pale, and dressed neatly in neutral colors to go with his neutral expression. Not anything remarkable looking, but he's not yet learned to hide the barely suppressed energy in his movements or the focus in his gaze.
[ He turns and taps the staff against the door opening it with a push and walking in. It doesn't take long for what looks like an alchemist lab to start assembling itself, a few futuristic tools sliding into place next to strange plants. ]

Now, I'm not aware of any abilities you may have nor do I know what kind of world you come from. My race are sometimes equated with demons so if I do something that you find unsettling inform me. So with that said, what interactions are you expecting to have?

You don't look like the demons from my world. [He shrugs.] I'm not expecting anything. You're the first of my 'temporary warden' who reached out to me. I wanted to know what you had to say.
[ He laughs and unrolls the case - a long felt lined piece of leather from which wires and gears gleamed, bits of bone and crystals and a few slivers of materials not quite fully real looking laying in between them. ]
I think most worlds have a different idea what is demonic and what is not. My people live deep under the earth and are able to manipulate the energy found there, and for the humans, that energy is a touch poisonous even without our hands to direct it. So. Demons. [ He shrugs and laid out the gears. ] I was curious; you seem to have a little something marking you and it's usually easier to see such things face to face.
Perhaps that fits commoners perceptions of what's 'demonic'. But it's practically the opposite of demons as we know them. There's little worse torture that could be designed for one than making them live deep under the earth. [Factual turning into suspicious.] What sort of 'mark'?
Our ancestors went underground because that was more comfortable to them and they reshaped us to appear more human, with only as few differences that have faded over the years.

Ge and I are... old even to how our people count the years, and we have a sensitively towards different energies. Like if you are used to magic, or live in a more radioactive area or dab too much with alien cells. That's all.
Not much. Most of what I know comes from the way we can shape the dark energy, so I have no idea what else there is.
[ He gave the vial a shake and then opened his hand. A coil of darkness wrapped around it, lifting it and then shaped itself into flames setting it to boil. ]
Granted, being as old as I am, how we can shape it is almost limitless.
[ He closed his hand and the ice flames went out, the vial clicking as he lowered it onto the table. Letting it sit, he started assembling the gears and cogs, arranging them into a interlocking cage. ]
It can be, but it can also give a person another method to overcome a disadvantage. [ He tips the vial over and retrieves a glowing stone from it, the reflections not quite real looking as if it was trying to bend the very air around it. He set it into the gear cage and sealed it. ] I've been working on a few clockwork toys for some of my friends. Unfortunately, the energy they need to move is something that gege's energy will distort making it break, so I found a work around.
Lingshi. I think most people would say a spirit stone. It uses a piece of harvested jīngmài from one of those dinosaurs, dried, cooled and heated with the right pieces of other ingredients. Usually it takes a long while to make, but... I am old and the only other being in my world that's stronger than I is gege.
