[So far, I think most of the murders I've seen here happened because somebody pissed somebody else off, rather than because they were targeting people who seemed vulnerable specifically. But to be fair, that's not statistically rigorous.
[That sounds useful. Have you talked to Martin about it? The request might go over better from him than from me.
He's not averse to trying - although he might ask the admiral to verify that's what it does - but he's still figuring out the rules of requests and when they're granted.]
Nathaniel doesn't have a problem approaching people in general - not a problem emotionally, though the nature of his approach might sometimes be considered questionable - but it's different when they're in a position of power that he doesn't understand.]
[Jedao frowns. It's - irresponsible, at the very least.
I'll try to get a read on him, and let you know what he's like. I won't mention you. If you still don't want to ask him after that, I'll see what I can do.]
[Nathaniel wrestles with that one for a moment, but it's just information gathering. He can't trust Jedao in the way he can trust his scrying glass, but he can adapt to the resources at hand. It's a test, not asking for help.
[It's a while before he responds. Better a sign that he's upset - as much as he hates showing even that much, than showing it. But once he's sure he's in control again, he responds with a text.]
Some wardens use magic. It's possible they could create some protections.
On the other hand, I don't think most dangers here even are magic. You can make fabric extremely heat and piercing resistant if you just have the right specs.
1. sometimes we land on islands full of giant lizards 2. something about people with powers that are part of them that it would be cruel to totally take away and fairness and self-defense for others 3. almost half of the wardens are former inmates and some of them probably wanted/had weapons as inmates and don't want to be hypocrites 4. also i think the admiral permits a certain level of catalytic chaos on purpose but that's just speculation, maybe it's just incompetence
1. If that truly is unavoidable (questionable) then they could be given out only when leaving the ship and retrieved on return (instead of it being a highly disorganized process) 2. That's stupid 3. That's worse 4. I suppose it would explain a higher chance to return weaponry.
Prisoners are suspended in the well to various depths, I believe certain creatures live in the water. The orb slowly shrinks bit by bit over time, eventually leaving no space to escape it cutting into flesh and essence.
I probably would've ended up in one or the other if I hadn't been successful.

Re: [backdated to shortly after the flood]
Date: 2022-06-04 10:21 pm (UTC)Nope, definitely not too personal. Because he's not scared, he's just made an object assessment of potential dangers.
The Amulet of Samarkand provides protection from magical attacks and is completely passive.]

Date: 2022-07-08 06:20 am (UTC)I haven't given or offered anyone else weapons. I think you wouldn't do anything stupid with them if I did. Vindictive, maybe, but not stupid.
To what end?

As punishment.
